In the words of Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro, they decided to jettison science in order to “decongest the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) and to make learning more enjoyable to young learners.” In other words, they believe that in postponing the teaching of science, they are doing the students an act of kindness.
New curriculum or not, as long as science is treated by our society as a body of knowledge to memorize and a set of equations that barf out dissertations, and not as a way of going about the world, it wouldn’t matter if we started teaching science at kindergarten.
