I used to support the RH Bill. I no longer do. By the end of this document, neither would you. I have not supported the RH Bill since I attended a lecture in Megamall about the truth behind it. That lecture truly enlightened me. My only hope is that this holy light of enlightenment passes through your monitor screen, into your optical nerves, and into your heart so it can touch your soul (because the soul is in the heart). My intent here is not to antagonize Pro-RH people, but to enlighten – so listen up, you narrow-minded morons. Open your minds to the real truth…
The RH Bill will put Filipinos at risk of extinction, because, at its very core, the RH Bill is an extension of a secret, global conspiracy – a western attempt – to implement principles of eugenics on unsuspecting, inferior populations in order to exclude them from the human evolutionary process, at the end of which would, at the apex, summon forth THE MASTER RACE. Anyone who failed to see this after the lecture is ignorant. I advise him or her to do his or her research, better yet, do some soul-searching to discover the real truth, because the truth is in our hearts, we just have to listen to it.
Initially, my layman’s interpretation of the RH Bill led me to think that it was just a bill meant to help educate the uninformed about ways to prevent them from fornicating their way to a very bad financial situation. My ignorant mind devised 10 simple points as to why the RH Bill was right.
I thought:
1. The minimum wage – the lowest an employer can pay an employee – of a non-agricultural Filipino worker is P404.
2. If there were 20 working days in a month (because most people don’t work on the weekend), the average minimum-wage-earning Filipino would earn around P8,000 a month.
3. Let’s call that person, Joey. If Joey, like other human beings, ate food on a regular basis, he will spend around P70/day on food (and that’s a very, very conservative assumption). There are 30 days in a month, so I guess, that would amount to P2,100 a month.
4. But if Joey had a wife that he loved, he might want to feed her too. Feeding her would cost another P2,100 a month.
5. P8,000 – P4,200 = P3,800
6. If Joey and his wife rented a home, or used electricity and bathed from time to time, the amount left from Joey’s salary would be significantly reduced. Let’s say their utility bills and rent amounted to P1800.
7. P3,800 – P1800 = P2,000
8. P2,000 is a lot of money, but I don’t think Joey and his wife should have more than 3 children, right? I mean, I don’t have children, but just by looking at one, I can safely assume that they cost more than P1,000/month. Babies need milk, diapers, toys, immunity injections, baby medicine…
9. From this I deduced that babies cost money. If babies cost money, I theorized that having more babies would cost more money. And from this data, I observed that a person who spent a lot of money on children, but didn’t earn a lot of money, would soon be broke and unable to provide for both himself and his children. Another word for this broke situation is poverty.
10. I theorized that a person can avoid being poor by making less babies. So, I thought that steps should be taken to inform people about this very little known fact. I also thought that the government should make contraceptives accessible so that people who don’t earn a lot can properly manage the little resources that they have. That’s why I supported the RH Bill.
But now I know that I was wrong. And here are some of the reasons why I know that. By the way, before I continue, I must say that this is the truth, guys. In fact, it’s more than the truth. It’s the Catholic truth, which means that it’s truer and more true than the regular truth.
I know that the issue of the RH Bill is not a religious issue, but make sure you pay attention if you want your soul to be saved. Here are some of the things I learned from the lecture I learned:
“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that the Philippines is overpopulated.”
I agree. I, myself, have observed that the Philippine is NOT overpopulated. In fact, if you use your common sense and think about it, you will realize a few things:
1. We are not overpopulated! Look at the mountains, the jungles, the caves and the ocean floor. There are no people there!
2. If we were really overpopulated, we would have trouble travelling. But if you go to EDSA, there’s no traffic. When you ride the MRT, it’s not packed with people.
3. Students in public schools are well educated because the teacher to student ratio is very low. In fact, because of our low population the government can basically guarantee that all public school students are provided books, notebooks and other school supplies.
“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that contraceptives are good for mankind and women.”
1. I agree, the RH Bill is not good for women because it might draw a woman away from her one, true, universal purpose – the uninterrupted production of healthy babies.
2. Furthermore, the role of women in society and the universe is to make babies. That’s why God made women. That’s their sole purpose in life. They’re not good for anything else. Ever wonder why there are no women in the clergy? Because they’re not good enough.
3. Contraceptives would allow women to enjoy the benefits of physical intimacy while maintaining a successful and productive career, if she so chooses. That is so wrong. Only men should be able to enjoy that privilege.
4. Women should get pregnant every single time they have sex and only immoral women enjoy sex without the possibility of conception. In fact, a better alternative would be for women, in general, to follow the example made by Mother Mary – to learn how to conceive without having sex.
“The RH bill will put Filipinos at risk of extinction!”
1. I agree. If we pass the RH bill, we will become extinct, like dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are all dead. If we don’t want to be extinct, we should not pass the RH Bill. I mean, do you really want to be a dinosaur?
2. In my opinion, it wouldn’t even be far-fetched to speculate that the most probable reason the dinosaurs became extinct was because they used contraceptives.
3. Population decline is just bad for nations. Just look at the countries which have a declining population – Italy, Japan and Singapore. They’re in such a bad shape. The Philippines obviously has a better economy and has a higher literacy rate than these countries. In fact, many Italians, Japanese, and Singaporeans go to the Philippines for work. That only goes to show that a decline in population is bad for the economy.
“Our population is our biggest asset!”
1. In my opinion, people should make as many babies as they can because the population is not a problem. In fact, the more babies a person has, the more assets he has. Forget real estate properties, stock investments, or Jollibee franchises. The real secret to increased wealth is babies.
2. If you have 15 babies, you’re practically wealthy because babies are assets:
2.1 If you need money, you can sell them.
2.2 If you can keep them alive until they can walk, they can one day beg for money in the streets – they’re going to have to anyway because there’s no way in hell you’ll be able to provide for all of them on your own.
3. If ever a person is not able to feed the 15 babies he made, it’s the governments fault, because it’s the governments sole responsibility to make sure that every Filipino baby is fed.
4. The best way a person can contribute to his country is to contribute to its population.
“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that reproductive education and contraceptives will effectively reduce cases of abortion.”
1. Reproductive/contraceptive education will have no effect on the number of abortion cases. In my opinion, these abortion cases will not lessen because women will continue to have abortions regardless of whether they are pregnant or not.
2. Abortions cannot be prevented. It’s just something that women naturally do. Like shopping, for example.
“The RH Bill is wrong because it will make people participate in extra-marital and pre-marital sex.”
1. By approving the RH Bill, we as a nation, are practically encouraging our people to engage in immoral activities.
2. We must protect our moral values and reject the RH Bill. Because, currently, not a single Filipino engages in pre-marital sex or extra-marital sex. As soon as this bill is approved, Filipino people will run the streets naked and start a national orgy!
3. The root cause of extra-marital and pre-marital sex is one’s exposure to contraceptives. There is just something in contraceptives that people find very arousing.
4. In Western countries, men lure strange women into bed by showing them condoms.
5. If we ban condoms, absolutely no one would engage in pre-marital or extra-marital sex.
“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that parents don’t teach their children about sex.”
1. The truth is that parents talk to their children about sex all the time. It’s so not awkward. The dad usually tells his children how he takes off all his clothes, does a sexy Tiger growl and makes sweet, sweet music with their mother’s body.
2. Also, a father usually advises his daughter that if she’s going to have sex with her boyfriend, she should use a condom. Sometimes the father even drives the daughter to the boyfriend’s house and waits for the couple to finish.
3. Filipino daughters don’t have sex without the father’s permission. Unwanted pregnancies or teen pregnancies never happen to Filipino girls. That’s why we do not need the RH Bill.
“The RH Bill is a conspiracy.”
1. It’s lies, all lies!
“The RH Bill is wrong because the priest said so, and priests are never wrong.”
The biggest reason why we should not pass the RH Bill is because the priests told us that we shouldn’t. As anyone should know, priests, men of the clergy, should be the authority on sexual and reproductive matters because they have the most knowledge and experience with sex and reproduction. They are true sexperts – legendary masters of erotic affairs. If you are a real Catholic, you would do everything they say, because they’re always right.
– both
It's for people like you or me or basically, this artice is just for the people who get it. But still, boring na rin yung article pag walang tangang nagccomment tas gagawing ulam haha
GOODNESS! People are replying as if they don't get the sarcasm and satirical piece of the article! You sirs, who didn't get the meaning, are the reason why this country keeps on going down in the first place.
WHAT THE FUCK???? MAY UTAK BA GUMAWA NITO?? AKALA KO PA NAMAN, INTELEHENTENG ARGUMENTO NAKALAGAY DITO!!!
dude this a satire
HAHAHAHA. E IKAW, MAY UTAK KA BA? :)) DMO PA RIN GETS, ANO?
You are the MOST DENSE person in the world. Ikaw ang hindi intelehente!
From the immortal words of DJ Ramon, DJ Angel, and DJ Tado, "MANGMANG!"
Poe's Law takes a lot of skill and finesse to pull off FYI, and this article does a terrific job of doing that 😀
Peace! 🙂
isa pa tong bobo. sarcastic kasi siya, gago.
ano ba yan? hehehe..
Y SO SRS????
ulol! isa ka pang bobo!!
Honestly, he made tremendous sense. If only you knew how to understand articles such as these–ganda ng points niya, kung sana hindi lang sobrang shallow mag-analyze ibang mga tao.
Michael Bernales… ipapakilala kita kay Rashine Palma. tyak magkakasundo kayo nun.
I agree and they can both go on to produce babies as smart as they are…ang movie ng buhay nila…IDIOCRACY
baka ikaw ang indi intelehente? Satirical kasi ang estilo ng kanyang pagsulat! Ikaw ang walang alam hahaha. Kakahiya!
/FACEPALM
..low gets ka ata pare..
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
National ORGY! hahaha this article is so funny.
People don't think the article is sarcastic because they only read the first few paragraphs. Starting from the middle portion is where the sarcasm becomes more noticeable.
This is like the lamest, most blatant form of satire. No subtlety and wit at all.
The fact that some Filipinos are praising this as a fine piece of satire and the rest still manage to miss the sarcasm just goes to show how tasteless and stupid Filipinos are.
This race really needs to stop making more babies.
Try writing one and see if people read yours 😀
They already do. Not people like you, of course, who enjoy this inelegant drivel.
Care to give us a link? I'm interested in reading your works, with you being so critical of this one. I did enjoy this article – although I have to agree, the sarcasm is so obvious you'd have to be a complete dolt to not get it.
please note that although the majority of us Filipinos do not understand satire, and sarcasm, we are not all stupid.
Judging by your name, I'm betting your a Filipino who thinks they're above it all.
go neuter yourself you racist.
I agree. You're not all stupid. Some of you are just tasteless.
Oh yeah, and I already had a vasectomy. Makes it easier for me to sleep around.
Then stop generalizing and stop with the useless comments like this. It just goes to show how stupid you are.
If my comments are useless, then what does that make yours? You didn't think that through, did you, Dumbo?
"dumbo"? hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
just because we have different preference, doesn't mean I'm tasteless it just means we have different taste.
there's also no need to generalize and make racist comments. you may not be racist or may not have intended to come across as one, but you did.
I also hope your not Filipino, because that would make you stupid just like the rest of us (based on your statement)
my name says it all.
Hey! I'm a Filipino but why do I understand this article? Does that mean I'm not really a Filipino? What am I then? LOL
Having read the other comments and replies, one can safely assume that the readers of this satirical article weren't FERVENTLY praising it to be witty better yet regarding it as a 'fine piece of satire' according to you pepe. 🙂
I think every race has its fair share of dimwits, so please, stop trying to act like a smartass.
Hi Pepe, it's great that you had a vasectomy so you couldn't contaminate the gene pool further, you RACIST fucker. It's unfortunate that a person with your obvious level of intelligence couldn't understand how a lot of people couldn't afford a good education and that everyone's raised differently. I think that goes for every nationality.
It's unfair and offensive how you can generalize that Filipinos are tasteless and stupid. Don't you think a lot of us cringe at shallow comments like Rashine Palma's? Those kinds of comments are made every day by people from different countries. Unless of course you're an elitist Filipino who thinks everyone else is beneath him. You'd be surprised how a lot of Filipinos are at par educationally and financially with the best countries.
Maybe this isn't the best form of satire, but people are commenting on how great the article is because everything he described is how it is in the Philippines for the average Juan, and a lot people don't see that. We're all tired of the heavy debate on how people should go for/against the RH bill, especially since majority of Filipinos are Catholic.
Oh, and a lot of articles like this are probably written by non-professional writers, so you might not find your effing 'proper elements'. So sorry we inelegant slobs can't be like you, asshole.
i think i'll have to quote this line from the movie Kung Pow:
Wimp Lo: I see the way you look at him. I'm a man, too, you know? I go pee pee standing up.
Pepe… peepee… geesh, i really have a bad sense of humor
@pepe's comment:
it's funny how you name yourself in your comment, it seems initially you're a Filipino then not. I believe that in Catholic faith, everything God creates has/have something good in it/them. So I think if you read closely and put your feet on the authors ground, you will understand the reason and the emotion he has while his writing the article. God Bless.
hahaha fuck you pare! you almost got me with your trol! tsk tsk. parehas lang tayong walang magawa sa araw natin hahaha bored ka sa work?
nice one…
Could anyone else who wish to comment, please please PLEASE understand what the word SARCASM means. The comment section is brooding people who do themselves an intellectual self-piledrivers.
I used to be anti-RH bill. Back then I thought that RH stands for Red Horse beer — especially when some Filipinos mis-pronounce bill as beer.
Anyway, I do think the RH bill makes good sense now.
RH bill provides free contraceptives to alleviate poverty.
I love free stuff, I mean who doesn't? When the bill is implemented, people will go out and get all the contraceptive they can carry and sell them for a profit. Ka-ching! Our financial problems that stems from decade-long mismanagement of finances is now solved! Hooray!
RH bill will teach the poor how to use contraceptive
In order for the bill to work successfully, poor Filipinos must know how to use these plastics properly. So what better way to do it than to broadcast porn around a poor community. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, but demonstration is much more effective. That's what the funding for TV and vans are for — to demonstrate how to use condoms.
I also agree that our public officials should use these public assets for personal use too. It would be a shame if these assets would only be used during government work hours. Porn everyday makes free contraceptives sell best.
Over-population is Philippine's biggest problem
There is just so much people here in the Philippines. The problem isn't the lack of public infrastructure such as trains and highways. The problem is the number of people who use these existing infrastructures and complain that it is crowded. Instead of building more trains to accommodate the growing population, it is much wiser to give away contraceptives. And I agree.
As they say, there is no need for choo-choos if nobody will ride them.
RH bill will now make the Philippines at par with Singapore, Japan and other developed countries.
The use of contraceptives is the main reason these countries are rich. It is not the corruption or the mis-management of funds that is causing our low economic status, but the lack of contraceptives in our daily lives. I heard rumors amongst the elite that Warren Buffett (one of the richest man on the world) carries a condom wherever he go. That's why he's so freaking rich — it's not because he's frugal and live within his means.
The RH bill will also stop the brain-drain that is happening in our country. Now, OFWs will come back to the Philippines because we have free contraceptives. It was not the lack of jobs and good working environments here that the OFWs left, the main reason why they left is because we don't give away free contraceptives.
Condoms are very popular amongst the Filipino
This is the reason why the Government should give it away for free. Unlike Church services, people drive in droves every Sunday to get their hands on the latest latex products sold by the condom factories.
Yes, suck it up Church people. The government is so sick of you being always morally right. It makes corruption very hard especially when your institution teaches the people how to live their lives straight while harboring, protecting and safe-guarding eye-witnesses that squeal graft cases on government agencies.
It is fitting that the Church's free services should be countered with free products. What better weapon is there than to giveaway free contraceptives.
RH bill will prevent unwanted pregnancy
Unwanted pregnancy occurs because sex was unplanned for. With free contraceptives, poor people would start planning their sexual activities — they would make a perfect line every morning waiting patiently for condoms to be distributed.
Additionally, whenever women are being raped or used as sex instruments by their husbands, they can now rest assured that their rapists/husbands are using government subsidized condoms so they won't get pregnant. This is women empowerment at its finest.
With free contraceptives, it would also drive down the costs of setting up prostitute houses – which would ultimately mean more jobs for poor Filipino women.
RH bill would lower government debt
By diverting funds away from public education, it is wiser to just giveaway contraceptives. This way, if teachers complain that their salaries are low compared to other countries, government officials can now reply: "does other countries also give contraceptive benefits alongside your base salary?"
A very good rationale for not giving our public teachers a pay raise indeed — which would ultimately result in lower state expenses.
RH bill would lower abortion rates
It is a fact that the reason why women get abortion is because their husbands or rapists were not wearing condoms. Once the husband and rapist start wearing condoms, these women will stop getting abortion.
In fact, the reason why these rapists such as Francisco Juan "Paco" Larrañaga (a member of the powerful Osmeña clan), Jozman Aznar (whose family owns a hospital and a school), Rowen Adlawan, Ariel Balansag, Alberto Caño propagate in our society is because they are too poor to afford contraceptives.
Ultimately, it all boils down to RH bill being awesome! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
HAHAHAHA! very well written.
sa mga kumokoment, ANO BA KAYO?! SARCASTIC ANG ARTICLE NA TO. IF HINDI NIYO ALAM ANG IBIG SABIHIN NG SARCASTIC, LOOK IT UP IN THE DICTIONARY, FOOL! kayo ang rason kung bakit kailangan ng RH bill. masyado na madaming bobo, di na kailangan dagdagan.bow.
hahaha, I agree with the purpose of the bill but I disagree with the bill. We need to do something, but this isn't the right way to do it.
Haynaku!
PEOPLE U MAD?
Come on people. I know sarcasm doesn't translate well when written, but come on, stop raging. This is really funny : ) good one!
waiiiiiiiiiit, totoo ba to? Social experiment lang ata to eh. The article is too stupid to be real hahaha
I agree. No one with a sane mind would write something like this.
you're too stupid to be real
good article you have here.. obviously, people here reacting violently against the article needs the RH bill.. We don''t want your idiotic genes to spread further. Read between the lines on this article before raging on! Clearly some people didn't get the sarcasm placed on this piece.
Funny, others don't understand sarcasm. This is a good laugh. Thumbs up.
Kudos to you! I enjoyed reading this! I admit though, that, as a roman catholic, I felt a bit bad about how anti-Church it was, but I guess it can't be helped. But I'd just like to clarify that not all priests are like that. The priests in my parish are all pretty pro-RH bill. Well, in general, I think priests of their order tend to be a bit on the pro-side. I haven't actually heard them say it outright, but it's pretty heavily implied in their comments and stuff.
But really. Morality should work hand in hand with logic, not cloud it. Frankly, we're all taught how God is loving and forgiving – so I believe that God would want what's best for our physical well-being as much as our spiritual one. Besides, if we say that contraceptives shouldn't be used because God told us to "go forth and multiply," all men shouldn't jack off because sperm is precious, we shouldn't eat pork because of the way pigs' feet are formed, and basically, we need to be doing a whole lot of other stuff that we don't. It's just not meant to be literal, you know. X_x
good read! nakakatawa yung comments ng iba. you guys should learn more about sarcasm. read first and understand what you're reading before posting comments. mahirap magmukhang tanga online. maraming nakakabasa. hehe.
Hello. The MRT is not crowded talaga. Wala pa ngang nakaangkas. And the jungles and ocean floors, wait, the jungles, they're full of vines, its expensive to build houses these days, and with all of the vines you'd have to chop, i say live in a condo instead! And now for the ocean floor, like uhm we can't breathe underwater, unless you wear a scuba gear like 24/7 but thats a hassle .. you'd have to go up for an air refill every 45 minutes. How can you sleep kung ganon?
Mama Mary was lucky to conceive without sex. Someone should research on this! Tipid! No more need to give away free contraceptives!
Mankind turning into dinosaurs, well at the rate the climate is changing, I don't see that as an UNforeseeable future, with or without the RH bill.
The Bottom line is this, yes we need sex education and yes we need contraceptives to address the POTENTIAL population boom, BUT, all caps as intended, we do have sex education in schools already, hence this is a redundant part of the bill, and we do have DOH who can freely enact a sex education/ family planning drive anytime. And as for contraceptives, have you gone to Mercury Drug lately.. or 7/11 for that matter, it is NOT illegal to be buying condoms.
So what is the RH bill then? Its Health Care for the mother, free contraceptives for the married couple if they so choose to do family planning (Read: it only addresses married couples going to public hospitals), education for people (which is already in place, not effective, yes, but already in place).
If you ask me the only worthy cause of the RH bill is the Health Care portion of the bill. Yes, I don't want Filipinos to die because of poverty. But why limit it to women concerns? Why not enact a Health Care bill that would address the poor (and the rich) who is dying of a heart attack. I don't want them to die as well.
Free contraceptives is just a waste of money. If people believed that they need family planning, they'd certainly forego getting a cellphone load in exchange for buying a condom. Yes, like 90% of the masa have cellphones. Just go to Greenhills. They're all texting.
There is something fishy about this RH bill. To say that you are FOR the RH bill, you'd have to agree with its entirety. When this is passed, all its flaws are passed as well.
What say you about the 2 child recommendation of the bill? It is not obligatory but suggested. Ergo, the social worker will be harping and shaping the minds of the mothers on this. Do you agree with this? I'm a 5th child, and I contribute well to the Philippine society. All the more, developed countries are having problems getting their citizens to pro-create and here we are stopping it. Tsk. Tsk. As it is nga ask around, I know of 5 people who doesn't want to have kids, and the rest of my siblings only want 2 to 3. And thats without a bill to promote this.
There's also this part about having a van and a TV for every congressional district in the entire Philippines. Again, optional but you know how our congressmen are. How much does a van cost? 700k? Multiply that by a thousand. Do you really want your tax money to go here? Pwede naman magcampaign ang DOH sa TV. They already have a budget for that. Ano walang TV the poor? Nakakanood nga ng Willing Willie! Syempre they have access to a TV, at least the majority.
As for family planning, its only the poor married couples who'd get it. Thats the premise of the bill. So it doesn't address the wedlock cases and the Robin Padilla types having 10 panganays.
This bill will only create another ZTE-ish scandal of a miraculous government condom purchase in the future. Sigurado yan.
Be critical my fellow Filipinos. Read the RH bill before getting on the cool- anti church PRO RH bill campaign.
I am not pro-Church. I find their arguments Baduy also. I wish they just kept mum about the issue frankly.
I am pro-Choice, pro-contraceptives, basta you pay for your own condom. 🙂
But yeah, the essay was hilarious! I became an instant fan. And Rashine Palma, where ever you are, I don't find you a moron, just slow. 😉 Thats what you get for not paying attention in your English classes.
Here's my 2-cents worth of unsolicited opinion. Exercise critical thinking before bashing. And please don't call me a moron. Pwede din so long as you are not one yourself 😉
With that reply, only a moron would call you a moron. Ang galing. Yours is the best argument I've seen by far. Well-written and explains everything you want to say in a way that we'd all understand.
So against pala c kua JuanTalino sa RH bill..
For the entirety of the bill, yes, I am anti-RH. It needs work. Passing the bill at its current state will be only bring dubious budget spending. And the timing as well. I think there are more important issues our country should spend our money on for now.
Very well said. But I can't say I totally agree on every word you wrote.
"we do have sex education in schools already, hence this is a redundant part of the bill, and we do have DOH who can freely enact a sex education/ family planning drive anytime."
– my 2 cents here, siguro naman hindi lang sa school yung target nila to educate people about sex. remember, not all are privileged para makapag-aral. I am hoping na sana ang main target ng RH bill ay yung mga taong walang kapasidad na makapag-aral at kailangan i-educate about sex. They need it more than those who have access to sex ed books/journals.
Thank you happy kid.
Can't the DOH do the education NOW even without the bill though? Nobody's stopping them right? Reproductive Health campaign? The DOH has a yearly budget. The question is, why isn't it being done now. With this bill in place, they'll start doing, what they can do already in the first place, ganon?
Do the campaign in Wowowee then. I don't think any TV exec will go against this if it means they'd be in the better graces of our government.
But no freebees still. Educate the Filipino that he may buy his own condom. Siguradong gagamitin nya yun, kesa dole outs.
I guess I'm not completely pro-RH Bill as it is now because of the potential loopholes in its provisions, but I'm pro- the idea of a bill being passed to address the RH needs of this country, lalo na for the poor. Actually kahit for the poor nga lang eh, kasi sila ang naive and insufficiently informed about things like this. This is not discrimination, it's the truth. Most people who have enough science and real world education already consider family planning, or at least birth control, as a must. I mean, take your siblings na lang for example, they only want 2-3 babies, and I'm pretty sure they already know what to do to be able to stop at 2-3. And anyway, even if rich/educated people fail at family planning, if they have the capacity and opportunity to get stable jobs, plenty of kids won't be such a problem. Robin Padilla having 10 panganays isn't ideal, but it's not a financial/economic problem because none of those 10 is probably condemned to a hopeless future. So government-supported family planning isn't a necessity for the rich or the educated anymore, that's right, but how about the people who don't even know what a condom is? How about those who still believe in contraceptive myths like jumping around or washing the vagina with coke after sex? Would they even seriously consider buying a Php30 (I think this is the cheapest?) condom every time they get horny, if there are "free alternatives"? I'm not saying poor people are stupid, I'm saying they're insufficiently informed, lalo na kung never sila umabot sa biology classes in school, tapos 'di naman pinag-uusapan sa bahay, at sa mga TV shows at movies hindi naman pinapakitang nagcocondom ang mga tao kapag nagsesex. Definitely, it's the government's responsibility to provide a system to better educate and better equip them. Even if it means free condoms for the poor from the taxpayers' money? I really don't know. Maybe? How else will they be able to buy?
And about the maternal health care portion of the bill: Yes, we also don't want poor people with heart problems to die, but I don't think that's the point. The maternal health care portion of the bill promises to address the RH needs of women, and that can already mean a lot of things, from birth control to safe childbirth and everything in between. Yes, it's very specific, but I think that's actually what makes it promising. I think that's a big enough reason to give maternal health care special attention.
On condoms, Lets say its 10 pesos per condom and the couple have sex 3x a week. So thats like 30 pesos a week, 120 per month. Its manageable if you ask me. Ask a jeepney driver how much he spends for his cellphone load in a month, and how much his wife's load is.
You raise a good point about all women having RH needs. Very true. Can the boundaries be set better though? RH as you define it ranges from birth control, to safe childbirth and everything in between. Contraceptives for those who want? Vitamins for pregnant mothers? Weekly check-ups? Free labor? Di ba kaya nga may PhilHealth and SSS. Women get maternity pay right?
Pano the ultra-poor jobless people? Their situation won't change even with this bill around. They'll get all the prenatal vitamins etc, but they eat rice with salt naman for lunch and dinner. Do you get my point? And the kid when born will grow up eating the same thing.
Our country's money can be put to better use than giving dole outs. Lets use the budget to help the parents, by teaching them new skills, to buy their own condoms and spend for their own maternity needs.
This is an out of this world idea but how about teaching them English that they may work in a call center? Pwede naman di ba? Offer night classes in the public schools for the parents naman. 😉
hmm teaching them English at such a late date?? as it is, the average Filipino spends 14-16 ( if you count pre-school) years studying English and yet only a bare handful can claim proficiency the language and….I do agree that the money can be used for something else though
I'd have to agree with you Mr. Juan Talino. pwede bang may like button na din dito? 🙂
Uhhh hindi ba yun yung thumbs up button?
onga. kakakita ko lang. haha. just clicked it, Mr. Juan Talino. 🙂
Thanks Marianne 😉
very. very. well said. hands down to you.
Why on earth would you call yourself JUANTALINO"?!!!! You didn't even understand a single thought presented on the article! YOU ARE A MORON!!!! Do yourself a favor man, go fucking buy a dictionary and look up the meaning of SARCASM (make sure you spell it right ok?!) Or better yet, I'll do it for you now:
sarcasm (ˈsɑːkæzəm) — n
1.mocking, contemptuous, or ironic language intended to convey scorn or insult
2.the use or tone of such language
To the author: KUDOS! this is by far one of the best articles I've read! Unfortunately, your style was just too ambiguous to people who lack the ability to read between the lines…
Ano daw? LOL I don't get your point one bit. You've deduced that I didn't understand the essay? How so? World peace my intellectually challenged sister. 🙂
Or is this your attempt to look dumb. haha Gulo mo.
Eh ang tingin kasi nila porket "sarcasm" (na dapat "satire") ang article na to hindi to dapat seryosohin at dapat purihin lang natin ang pagiging sarcastic ng author. May nakaaway din ako sa comment ng taga-Anakbayan (di ko alam kung nabasa mo) na ginagawang point na porket work of "sarcasm" to hindi ka na pwedeng magpresent ng datos.
Really, these "intelligent" people… only able to see the world through a slit in the door, when we've been looking through the window the whole time.
dude have a sense of GODDAMN HUMOR!
jerb have a sense of GODDAMN CRITICAL THINKING!
This is a satire piece. Pag pinatulan nyo to, the joke is on you.
Ang pinapatulan namin ay yung "Cheryl" bok. Hindi yung article. So… I guess the joke is on you.
oh no! another one on the loose! commonsense is really running out!
hehehe funny how people got the article, but didn't get my comment. FTW! Yes, I did get the article hence my comment. Anak ng pating! LOL
Swerte ka you've had only your fair share of idiots. Lahat ng post ko may atake against me for "not getting the sarcasm in this article".
Give the money for the RH bill to DECS I say!
boost.
It's not just cool. This argument represents the peoples' move away from the Church. A step forward for our country, in my opinion.
However the outcome, it is good that Filipinos are already engaged with national issues. There is hope for the Philippines! People are already thinking, and not merely taking in what the Church is saying.
Sad though that some have taken the stance that since they don't like what the church is saying, then they are pro-RH na.
The rebellion against the church is what is fueling the pro-RH. Nevermind that the bill is flawed.
Yan, in the end, ang Katangahan.
I was very much intrigued by the headline thats why i was drawn to this article. but just reading the first paragraph, i was already offended by the " so listen up, you narrow-minded morons." line. I really wanted to read this. So, rather than reading on. I will just close this and continue on my way, and not go into touching my heart then my soul, because you already have offended me in a way that it touched my heart and my soul and my person and being.
If you'd reconsider and come back I hope you'd get to reply to these:
1) Is your comment on JuanTalino's remark or on the article?
2) Mate it was not meant to offend you, it was meant to enlighten you. This is written in jest. "Sarcasm", if you may.
and to those preaching and telling off those who comment about the article's satiricism, gtfo. You people are exactly the same as those who make fun of those who dont get it. let people express their opinion jeez. What comments would you expect on a satirical article except for comments on its sarcasm.
Pero good read pa rin. Peace.
destroy the catholic church. go RH bill. educate the masses…and atienza (who has threatened NGO workers).
Vade retro Satana! erm… Vade retro Atienza!
On a more serious note, whether it gets destroyed or not I believe the case lies in people as well. If you remove the Church but people still are uneducated/unwilling to be educated, then (in this context) what's the purpose of destroying it?
I just know this is going to be a long comment, but I hope you'll bear with me on this one.
I think this is a very smart way of putting most (if not all) of the arguments against the RH Bill out there. Best way to defeat an argument is to point out the flawed logic behind it, and this piece definitely did just that, without having to resort to technical terms used by rhetoricians.
I completely agree with the writer on this.
@JuanTalino — I understand your point; I've read the proposed bill, too. However, don't you think that the potential for corruption is greatly outweighed by our necessity to educate our people regarding their own bodies? While it pains me to say this because I had hoped that we'd be better than this by now, there are actually some women who get pregnant without knowing the cause. It's something so basic to us, but not everyone is as privileged to have access to such information. A househelper we had even believed that it was possible to get pregnant only a month AFTER coitus, and not immediately after. This is a reality, and the need therefore for information is crucial. And granted that there are other ways of educating people, the education aspect is not the entirety of the goal of the RH Bill. There's also freedom of choice, especially with their own bodies. I disagree when you said that women only have children because they want to; some are victims of marital rape or merely consent to the sexual acts (out of fear, perhaps, of getting beaten black and blue) but are not willing to bear children at all. The bill will also be for women empowerment, because it enables women to enjoy sex without having to worry about the consequences of bearing a child, therefore putting them in the same footing as men in this aspect. And why would it be wrong to give these away for free? Condoms can be pricey, even the cheapest ones, if you don't even have enough money to get by. And honestly, I think that those who do need the RH Bill the most would rather spend their money on alcohol and cigarettes than on condoms at this point. After all, if it's the men who are handling the money (and they most often are, in those demographics), would they really buy something that would barely affect them, except perhaps to curb the sensation they're looking for in the first place? They wouldn't, because they likely wouldn't see the point. The RH Bill would provide women with the power to take what they need without needing their partner's help or consent.
And in the end, this really is a woman's problem. It's the women who bear the children; it's the women who are being withheld information from and being withheld freedom from. They lose the freedom to do what they will with their own bodies, by withholding them the simple question of whether or not they should be able to take precautionary measures against pregnancy. Why do they have to ask for this service? (And this may sound completely unrelated, but males have the 'libreng tuli' projects and nobody's making an issue of that. Have you asked yourselves why? Why is it that people just agree that men can feel free to cut off parts of their own penises for both traditional and medical reasons and women can't even use contraceptives because it defies only tradition? Point being: it's the double standard talking.)
What the RH Bill boils down to is should women be given the freedom over their own bodies in making the decision of using contraceptives? Corollary to this is, should the State provide them with means to enable them in doing so? @eabaguioro, it would be UNCONSTITUTIONAL NOT TO. Article II Sec. 14 of the same Constitution declares it to be so. Equality of freedom between women and men. The only way I can even imagine Sec 12 coming into the picture is by bringing in the abortion argument which was clearly rebutted by the writer's article.
PAKAK NA PAKAK TALAGA YUNG HINDI NAKAKAGETS E.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm
ALAM MO NA? :p
yey mag nag post ng link 🙂
sorry ah sobrang talino mo ata eh 🙂
PAKAK NA PAKAK TALAGA YUNG HINDI NAKAKAGETS E.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm
ALAM MO NA? :p
"i fully support", "i dont suppport period", "i support parts of it", "in principle it is correct pero hindi ba mas okay kung"…
well, yun lang. 🙂 good night.
We should all take this seriously, di ba guise?
People who didn't get the tone of the article confused me! I thought they were reacting satirically to a satire, hahaha! I actually thought I was missing something.
Anyway, on the RH Bill itself, totally agree with all the points raised. Funny piece!
This was a triumph…
enlighten me.
Do you really know what satire is?
kua eloy, sarcasm lang po ung article, not necessarily na gagawin ng author un lahat. kaw naman, chill a little bit.. 🙂
Don't make babies beyond your means…its like shopping. Plan your life, hit your goals short and long term.
Coming from a guy who's nick is 2wivesandcounting, your analogy relating making babies to shopping is priceless! LOL
Knowing what sarcasm is is NOT the only indication of intelligence. Once again, people, stop commenting about satire and sarcasm if you've already done it. Focus on the issue at hand: the RH Bill. Otherwise what would this article be for. Praise the content, not the form, if praising the form means neglecting the content.
So effing true. Most comments in here are just about the satirical form of the post. People who are continuously insulting and making fun of those who didn't get the author's satire, are just as bad, if not worse. Guys, it really doesn't make you smarter than them. You're only embarrassing yourself.
Wag mo silang pigilan mag comment. Masama man o mabuti. Kung ikaw nga nag cocomment eh.
kasi kaya nakalagay humor para magrelax ka naman! mashado kang siryoso eh. yes, people don't get that this is a satire and they post comments that would later on be the cause of their embarrassment tas papagtripan sila ng tao dahil ganun talaga yun dahil people don't want to talk about problems na kahit san mo naririnig. they want to get away. it is about an issue pero para pagtripan nalang ang issue.
Loosen up pls
Nung una akong nagpost dito puro "HAHAHAHAHAHA ANG GALING NG SATIRE" yung posts ko, pero after that I moved on to bigger and better things. "Loosening up" does not mean babalewalain na lang ito. Haharapin natin to. This article should be a catalyst.
If you think of me as having no sense of humor, how about your reply? What would I assess from that?
If you really want to hear me out para maunawaan mo why I'm posting like this, go to Page 9 (hmmm, maybe by the time you get back lagpas na siya sa Page 9 pero at least may reference ka). Nandun yung comments ko from a few days ago.
Sorry last na to
When you watch a comedy which subtly tackles a problem of society, you don't just leave the theater feeling good. You leave the theater with a sense of purpose na dapat talakayin natin yung issue.
Same goes here, I'm afraid. I'm not against the author. I'm against sa mga taong pinipigilan ang right naming magcomment sa issue, which is the purpose of this site, the Filipino Freethinkers, to begin with.
"the role of women in society and the universe is to make babies" – FTW! that is so wrong!
HAHAHAHA. FTW! that is so wrong! -ano ibig sabihin ng ftw para sayo? fuck the what? = ))))))))
no it's not…
then women should have never fought for their rights like suffrage. After all, making babies are only being done by women, men not participating. You are a woman, your name implies, you should have known better.
additional comment:
Sarcastic ang pag kakagawa ng article. Basahin mo mabuti yung pagkakasulat. 🙂
yep. basahin niyo po ulit. haha.
Wow. Talk about lack of quality comments. Most comments are either by people who haven't sensed the author's satire (It's not sarcasm, people. They're 2 different things.), or by people who insult those who're raging it. Seriously, people. Do you really think calling someone "tanga" or "bobo" will make you smarter than them? Seriously.
to rashine palma and team, next time magiisip ha? libre gamitin ang utak.
OH COME ON PEOPLE! you were able to actually read the whole thing without understanding that it was SARCASTIC?!?! how many brothers and sisters do you have that your parents can't send you to school?!
Dapat ba kaming matuwa sa pagka-witty ng last sentence mo?
I am Pro-Human .. poor and rich alike.
Why start with a Reproductive Health Bill when we don't even have a proper Health Care Bill? We save the dying woman in labor and deny the man dying of a heart attack medical attention?
This bill just reeks PERSONAL AGENDA from whoever is sponsoring this bill. This is politicking at its finest, getting people to talk about contraceptives pa when its really LEGAL naman na. And education, thats there na din! Are you telling me DOH is prohibited to launch a Family planning campaign? Thats not the issue here.
Read the RH bill. I'm telling you, you'd start questioning your stand, you PRO RH bill you. Hehehe
OMG! DUMP THE RH BILL!!!!!!111111 /srcsm
McSweeney's needs you. B)
HAHAHA! Wow.
Edi nawala yung sense of satire. Good luck
haha, from the comments below you're part of the originals who understood the article from the start. therefore, my comment was not intended for you.
im trying to bait the "smart ones". haha!
Aral ka muna ng Sarcasm 101 kay Dustin.
haha. actually, narealize ko nga sablay talaga.
Alam ko na, ganito na lang. Baka dapat nilagyan mo ng instructions sa start on how to interpret the article. Tipong, "read from top to bottom, then the opposite of the statements is the true message". 😐
In the spirit of debate, what are your opinions on the RH Bill? o.0
(isn't it going to be passed as the Responsible Parenthood Act or am I wrong?)
I think that more than something that can regulate the quantity of people, it's something that can increase the quality of life of Filipinos. Of course, enforcing and enacting it (and how our political system fails) is an entirely bigger issue that needs a different discussion.
Nakakatawang walang sumagot dito tapos mas marami pang comments on "sarcasm" kesa actual discussion ng RH Bill.
Good night
LOL! It's so obvious that it's satire just from reaching the 2nd paragraph. The problem is, that people don't actually think/comprehend things first before commenting. THAT or they just totally don't think at all. 😐
troh
Sarcasm is humorous, but sarcasm alone doesn't mean solid arguments. After all, it only deals with caricatures of the anti-RH arguments and not the real points themselves.
It's funny how people here are getting mad on HOW people are reacting with words using tanga, bobo etc…kasi di lang nagets yung article.
PAANO KA NGA NAMAN MAGREREACT? E ANG BOBO TALAGA NIYO E? DI NIYO NAGETS YUNG POINT KUNG BAKIT TINATAWAG KAONG BOBO. KASI. HINDI.NIYO.NGA.NAINTINDIHAN.NA.JOKE.LANG.DAPAT.ANG.ARTICLE.
Siguro naman gets niyo na point ko.
