Why the RH Bill is bad: The Real Truth behind the Supposed Truth about the RH Bill

I used to support the RH Bill. I no longer do. By the end of this document, neither would you. I have not supported the RH Bill since I attended a lecture in Megamall about the truth behind it. That lecture truly enlightened me. My only hope is that this holy light of enlightenment passes through your monitor screen, into your optical nerves, and into your heart so it can touch your soul (because the soul is in the heart). My intent here is not to antagonize Pro-RH people, but to enlighten – so listen up, you narrow-minded morons. Open your minds to the real truth…

The RH Bill will put Filipinos at risk of extinction, because, at its very core, the RH Bill is an extension of a secret, global conspiracy – a western attempt – to implement principles of eugenics on unsuspecting, inferior populations in order to exclude them from the human evolutionary process, at the end of which would, at the apex, summon forth THE MASTER RACE. Anyone who failed to see this after the lecture is ignorant. I advise him or her to do his or her research, better yet, do some soul-searching to discover the real truth, because the truth is in our hearts, we just have to listen to it.

Initially, my layman’s interpretation of the RH Bill led me to think that it was just a bill meant to help educate the uninformed about ways to prevent them from fornicating their way to a very bad financial situation. My ignorant mind devised 10 simple points as to why the RH Bill was right.

I thought:

1. The minimum wage – the lowest an employer can pay an employee – of a non-agricultural Filipino worker is P404.

2. If there were 20 working days in a month (because most people don’t work on the weekend), the average minimum-wage-earning Filipino would earn around P8,000 a month.

3. Let’s call that person, Joey. If Joey, like other human beings, ate food on a regular basis, he will spend around P70/day on food (and that’s a very, very conservative assumption). There are 30 days in a month, so I guess, that would amount to P2,100 a month.

4. But if Joey had a wife that he loved, he might want to feed her too. Feeding her would cost another P2,100 a month.

5. P8,000 – P4,200 = P3,800

6. If Joey and his wife rented a home, or used electricity and bathed from time to time, the amount left from Joey’s salary would be significantly reduced. Let’s say their utility bills and rent amounted to P1800.

7. P3,800 – P1800 = P2,000

8. P2,000 is a lot of money, but I don’t think Joey and his wife should have more than 3 children, right? I mean, I don’t have children, but just by looking at one, I can safely assume that they cost more than P1,000/month. Babies need milk, diapers, toys, immunity injections, baby medicine…

9. From this I deduced that babies cost money. If babies cost money, I theorized that having more babies would cost more money. And from this data, I observed that a person who spent a lot of money on children, but didn’t earn a lot of money, would soon be broke and unable to provide for both himself and his children. Another word for this broke situation is poverty.

10. I theorized that a person can avoid being poor by making less babies. So, I thought that steps should be taken to inform people about this very little known fact. I also thought that the government should make contraceptives accessible so that people who don’t earn a lot can properly manage the little resources that they have. That’s why I supported the RH Bill.

But now I know that I was wrong. And here are some of the reasons why I know that. By the way, before I continue, I must say that this is the truth, guys. In fact, it’s more than the truth. It’s the Catholic truth, which means that it’s truer and more true than the regular truth.

I know that the issue of the RH Bill is not a religious issue, but make sure you pay attention if you want your soul to be saved. Here are some of the things I learned from the lecture I learned:

“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that the Philippines is overpopulated.”

I agree. I, myself, have observed that the Philippine is NOT overpopulated. In fact, if you use your common sense and think about it, you will realize a few things:

1. We are not overpopulated! Look at the mountains, the jungles, the caves and the ocean floor. There are no people there!

2. If we were really overpopulated, we would have trouble travelling. But if you go to EDSA, there’s no traffic. When you ride the MRT, it’s not packed with people.

3. Students in public schools are well educated because the teacher to student ratio is very low. In fact, because of our low population the government can basically guarantee that all public school students are provided books, notebooks and other school supplies.

“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that contraceptives are good for mankind and women.”

1. I agree, the RH Bill is not good for women because it might draw a woman away from her one, true, universal purpose – the uninterrupted production of healthy babies.

2. Furthermore, the role of women in society and the universe is to make babies. That’s why God made women. That’s their sole purpose in life. They’re not good for anything else. Ever wonder why there are no women in the clergy? Because they’re not good enough.

3. Contraceptives would allow women to enjoy the benefits of physical intimacy while maintaining a successful and productive career, if she so chooses. That is so wrong. Only men should be able to enjoy that privilege.

4. Women should get pregnant every single time they have sex and only immoral women enjoy sex without the possibility of conception. In fact, a better alternative would be for women, in general, to follow the example made by Mother Mary – to learn how to conceive without having sex.

“The RH bill will put Filipinos at risk of extinction!”

1. I agree. If we pass the RH bill, we will become extinct, like dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are all dead. If we don’t want to be extinct, we should not pass the RH Bill. I mean, do you really want to be a dinosaur?

2. In my opinion, it wouldn’t even be far-fetched to speculate that the most probable reason the dinosaurs became extinct was because they used contraceptives.

3. Population decline is just bad for nations. Just look at the countries which have a declining population – Italy, Japan and Singapore. They’re in such a bad shape. The Philippines obviously has a better economy and has a higher literacy rate than these countries. In fact, many Italians, Japanese, and Singaporeans go to the Philippines for work. That only goes to show that a decline in population is bad for the economy.

“Our population is our biggest asset!”

1.  In my opinion, people should make as many babies as they can because the population is not a problem. In fact, the more babies a person has, the more assets he has. Forget real estate properties, stock investments, or Jollibee franchises. The real secret to increased wealth is babies.

2. If you have 15 babies, you’re practically wealthy because babies are assets:

2.1 If you need money, you can sell them.

2.2 If you can keep them alive until they can walk, they can one day beg for money in the streets – they’re going to have to anyway because there’s no way in hell you’ll be able to provide for all of them on your own.

3. If ever a person is not able to feed the 15 babies he made, it’s the governments fault, because it’s the governments sole responsibility to make sure that every Filipino baby is fed.

4. The best way a person can contribute to his country is to contribute to its population.

“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that reproductive education and contraceptives will effectively reduce cases of abortion.”

1. Reproductive/contraceptive education will have no effect on the number of abortion cases. In my opinion, these abortion cases will not lessen because women will continue to have abortions regardless of whether they are pregnant or not.

2. Abortions cannot be prevented. It’s just something that women naturally do. Like shopping, for example.

“The RH Bill is wrong because it will make people participate in extra-marital and pre-marital sex.

1. By approving the RH Bill, we as a nation, are practically encouraging our people to engage in immoral activities.

2. We must protect our moral values and reject the RH Bill. Because, currently, not a single Filipino engages in pre-marital sex or extra-marital sex. As soon as this bill is approved, Filipino people will run the streets naked and start a national orgy!

3. The root cause of extra-marital and pre-marital sex is one’s exposure to contraceptives. There is just something in contraceptives that people find very arousing.

4. In Western countries, men lure strange women into bed by showing them condoms.

5. If we ban condoms, absolutely no one would engage in pre-marital or extra-marital sex.

“The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that parents don’t teach their children about sex.”

1. The truth is that parents talk to their children about sex all the time. It’s so not awkward. The dad usually tells his children how he takes off all his clothes, does a sexy Tiger growl and makes sweet, sweet music with their mother’s body.

2. Also, a father usually advises his daughter that if she’s going to have sex with her boyfriend, she should use a condom. Sometimes the father even drives the daughter to the boyfriend’s house and waits for the couple to finish.

3. Filipino daughters don’t have sex without the father’s permission. Unwanted pregnancies or teen pregnancies never happen to Filipino girls. That’s why we do not need the RH Bill.

“The RH Bill is a conspiracy.”

1. It’s lies, all lies!

“The RH Bill is wrong because the priest said so, and priests are never wrong.”

The biggest reason why we should not pass the RH Bill is because the priests told us that we shouldn’t. As anyone should know, priests, men of the clergy, should be the authority on sexual and reproductive matters because they have the most knowledge and experience with sex and reproduction. They are true sexperts – legendary masters of erotic affairs. If you are a real Catholic, you would do everything they say, because they’re always right.

  1. Ayy. Good one. It would be awesome if you can translate this to Tagalog so that everyone can understand how ridiculous it has been.

  2. RH Bill should be returned to the 'Code and Ethics of PopCom' and not to be used for Grandstanding! Let the people decide for themselves…

  3. This article flares me up at first. I thought that this author is an idiot male chauvinist and a human-trafficker. Then, as I continue reading, I found myself laughing at the author's sarcasm. This article is purely sarcasm for the lecture he attended. Who would in the right mind would suggest to live in the ocean floor, to sell babies for money and to say that women are not good enough?

Chillax everyone, this is a reverse-psychology article.

  4. I lol’d.

    1. In my opinion, people should make as many babies as they can because the population is not a problem. In fact, the more babies a person has, the more assets he has. Forget real estate properties, stock investments, or Jollibee franchises. The real secret to increased wealth is babies.

  5. I have been following with interest the heated and passionate debate regarding the RH Bill.

As a foreigner, originally from the UK; a country where we have had this kind of legislation and had the opportunity over the decades to see its fruits develop; I may be able to give a sober look at the future that awaits the Filipino people if you allow this process to begin.

Please permit me to share my story.

I was born in 1963, one of the last of a generation that had a much taken-for-granted but premier human right:- the right to be born. It is a right that is no longer enshrined in law in the UK.

Some 30 years later I experienced the degree to which the country had changed. I was working as an environmental scientist in pollution control. One contract took me to a clinical waste incinerator to undertake monitoring of their process.

During the course of the investigation I made a harrowing discovery. The plant was next to a hospital but also imported clinical waste from other hospitals and clinics in that part of the country. I discovered that one purpose of this seemingly ordinary looking establishment was to burn the thousands of aborted babies. It was as if I was stood at the gates of a Nazi concentration camp watching a genocide before my eyes, the ashes from burnt unborn babies corpses blocking out the sun.

Horrified I immediately made my company aware of this and refused to work on this plant, but business is business, it is perfectly legal in the UK to kill babies with abortion now and so I was fired from my position, and they kept on with the contract. You see the right to a conscientious objection is also eliminated by the pro-death culture.

Similar, and more numerous cases involved pharmacists who refused to sell pills and devices which cause abortion, their rights were also eliminated and they lost their jobs too. In hospitals the same pressure is on doctors and nurses who can be discriminated against if they don’t perform or assist in abortions, it makes a nonsense of the Hippocratic oath to ‘do no harm’.

Once upon a time, the UK had many children, now a declining population, once there was decency and good moral behaviour, now the young people have little dignity and self respect and promiscuous behaviour brings such sadness to their lives and leads to so many abortions now, few families are left untouched by its effects.

On a personal note, I really love the Philippines and its people, and I hope that your legislators and decision makers will defend the country, and stand up for the people, by rejecting the imposition of the western culture of death that would begin with this insidious RH Bill.

    • If you have been following the RH debate with interest, as you claim you have, then I assume you must have read the RH bill in its entirety. If you did, then can you please tell me where in the bill is that "western culture of death" that you claim will begin with the passage of this bill?

I admire your 'love of our country and its people', assuming that is true! However, I would strongly advice against giving an independent observer's doomsday comment about the ill effects of a law that was implemented in a country far different from our own, in terms of culture, beliefs, etc., and creating undue fear of similar implications if our own version of the bill is passed!

    • Another thing, the vast cultural and religious differences between our two countries should allay your fears that passing the RH bill will result to the same experience your country had several years ago. To cite a few: while your country has historically been an "aggressor", ours has been the "aggrieved"; while our nation has successfully toppled a dictator through a peaceful revolution and succeeding presidents via the same peaceful means, we don't go on a mindless rampage of looting, anarchy and mayhem in protest of something like a citizen being shot by cops. I could cite other basic differences but these may not be deemed appropriate here. So, chill Steve, I honestly don't think our country will experience the same end result yours had!

  6. my hat's off to the author…. the only true satirist in this mess

sad thing is… ALMOST everyone else here (heh, not excluding me) is a "sarcasmist"

    Tsk tsk tsk.

kaya walang ibang dapat tawagin na mga BOBO'T TANGA kundi tayong lahat.

[i]ang pinoy nga naman….. kung ayaw ng away….. gusto ng gulo…[i/] – anon

  7. who ever wrote this, after i finish reading the first issue regarding the phrase “RH bill is wrong” i immediately stop, you know why? because this is full of your assumtions,we are not overpopulated?have you watched channel 11 yesterday? the ratio of classroom and student is 1:85 and I dont ride MRT but i Ride LRT,i can tell you that you are wrong..every morning i have to fall in a 100m or more line just to be able to ride…if you still insist that we are not over populated then fine…but just take a look at it…the problem is not just over population it is,that we have more children than workers that would mean the production is less..

  8. what the… o sige na.. ako na slow – abacus – pentium one! LOL. I'm trying to learn about RH Bill as far as i could for my research paper so as I'm reading the first part of this article I almost said out loud "tangina this!" But then okay i get it! damn it! You got me a good one!

    I really like this one:
If we pass the RH bill, we will become extinct, like dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are all dead. If we don’t want to be extinct, we should not pass the RH Bill. I mean, do you really want to be a dinosaur?

For God's sake! I don't want to be a dinosaur so let's oppose to RH bill and be dogs or cats or cockroach.. they're really all over the streets.. LOL.

  9. This article made a true example on the context LMAO – laughing my ass off, I even shed tears out of laughter. Thank you for making me laugh like this dude!

  10. Your not an anti!your a pro at RH Bill!so funny!you explain good why your pro in the first place !but when it goes at the main point why your against it,it’s the opposite of what u wanted to tell us that’s why i stated that they should(I’m not old enough to judge this, but I,me,myself knows that our population is over crowded!people do bad things why?because they do not have enough food to feed their family’s!isn’t it true?hmm…there been a lot of tragedy happen to our Country! Those Typhoon’s those Flood’s why did it happen?”cause of Taking advantage in our Surrounding [nature, likas yaman ]..why?cause there were NO place to live I mean’t to say is that it is OVERPOPULATED and NOT ENOUGH Food to feed,NOT ENOUGH THINGS TO SUSTAIN DAILY LIVING,yes there were some place that is not yet been that crowded but do we need it to came at this point?to be overpopulated and crowded !look at the MANILA BAY isn’t a reason enough ? well anyway think clearly!I’m just 15 year’s old !so this is my point of view !)they should know what to do!the FUTURE DEPENDS ON US,YOUR’s(meant to say is PARENTS )our FUTURE!..hope my comment help us a lot?or did it make it worse!?

    (sorry for the bad english!)

  11. nice blog. it goes to show that some people are ignorant and cannot comprehend what the writer really wants to say.

  12. Hilarious! One of the most entertaining reads I’ve had in a while. Point well made. Lastly, who do I commend for the equally as hilarious comments? Haha.

  13. Saan ba nakakabili ng talino para maipamudmod dito? People, THE WRITER WAS BEING SARCASTIC! It doesn’t need to be said out loud but because apparently so few of you got it.. MR. CELERIO IS OBVIOUSLY PRO-RH. Sa Tagalog, kakampi niyo siya kaya huwag niyo siya awayin!

  14. …,another, sell our babies….?…you….,WTF,.give me your sons and daughters and i’ll sell them to the devil..,i’m only 15 years old but i can already say that my view of our countries condition is a lot way better, wider, and reasonable than yours, what your doin’ is like shouting ’bout mutation in the midst of debate regarding evolution without knowing anything about it, and like insisting Kpop is better than Jpop…enlighten our minds..?..,,yours is the one,or is a must to be enlighten…also would you want me to force you lived on the top of the most active volcano here in the phils,.since you’ve stated ,why are we not living in jungles,in this,in that,..COMMON SENSE ,idiotic bastard,.we’re not animals ,…what’s w/ you, desperately needing attention…?..pathetic Loon….you, MORON..

  15. …The one who Commented this is a Full-Fledged Moron,Klutz,Narrow-minded Person…,look i’m an anti-RH…,but then YOU showed up and disgraced the true point the anti’s were raising..,you could have think twice, but then you recklessly commented such nonsense thing,,have you tried reading this your fuckin’ self..?….,it sucks .,pointless..,irrational.,look what you’ve Done Asshole…

  16. I cant believe this. Our teacher gave me this “link” to prove that the RH Bill is a “bad” thing. I guess she doesn’t speak SARCASM -___-

p.s. I for one am a fan of it 😀

  17. Please be aware of the articles you're writing.
May it be sarcasm or not, you may be misleading people which they might find it insulting, untrue, nor funny.
The Bill of which you speak of is of a serious matter and not to be making fun of.
The internet is supposed to be a resourceful place. Please do not mislead the people. Especially the youth.

either way, this is not a very good article.

  18. I was having coffee yesterday and overheard a middle-aged lady lawyer and a middle-aged guy talk about the RH bill, both of whom couldn't understand why there is a need for a law to be passed since "everything is already there"! I was itching to comment but decided in the end not to. Too bad there are a lot of educated people out there who are still misinformed…

  19. nakakainis naman to..1:60+ ang ratio sa mga public school taz sasabihin mo na low parin..?

“We are not overpopulated! Look at the mountains, the jungles, the caves and the ocean floor. There are no people there!”

–anung gusto mo, pati yan gawing subdivision at tirhan nating mga tao???

  20. it depends upon us….to have babies without thinking their future…..I dont agree of RH bill…pratically speaking we’re the Captain of our Soul…God Knows!

  21. such narrooooooow minds goddammit. this article is very offensive indeed. it is so offensive that i laughed my ass off the chair while reading it. this guy supports that rh bill. read between the lines morons. andaming bobo sa mundo grabe. dito pa lang nagkalat na eh. hahahahahahahahahahahaha. before saying anything about anything, analyze. then after that, say it, then analyze what you said. if you think you’re right. then you’re wrong!!! hahaha. what a joke. anyway, eople have the rights to voice their opinions. you could criticize that opinion of theirs, but never should you voice them out. you’re not perfect. nothing is. everything in the article was purely satiric. stupid people, those who have minds but does not use them right, and those who are narrow minded, please, read that fu***** article again and again until you understand okay?

  22. Great! Very entertaining article! Exactly my point why I support RH Bill. And for those who didn't get it, sorry for you. You just wasted your time reading and commenting for a wrong understanding. Hello this article is a satire!! I bet all those morons who don't get the whole sarcasm thing are those ANTI-RH bill, this only proves how stupid the way they think. They don't have enough knowledge on the issue they only come up with their belief based on what they heard and what the church dictates on them.

  23. (I bet all those morons who don't get the whole sarcasm thing are those PRO-RH bill, this only proves how stupid the way they think.)

whathell4713: most of those who didn't understand the satire and lambasted the author are PRO-rh, and it is because of their strong support for this bill that they reacted violently to how the author presented the oppositors' arguments. Understanding and supporting a particular bill (RH bill) is different from understanding and enjoying a literary style (satire) which, unfortunately, is not well taught in most schools, generally speaking that is.

Unless of course it was just a typo and you meant ANTI-RH…

  24. hahaha, a very humorous way of supporting the bill.
what are these people thinking? you guys who just posted bad words about the author pls kindly read this article again… cant you just get it? hey mr celestino you are indeed a good writer, hahaha, i like your style dude… more please… bro i think you have to rewrite it in tagalog para maintindihan nung iba na may violent reaction… hahaha…

  25. Here's an irony! A lot of people here who posted comments are clearly educated (based on their comments), yet they still ended up lambasting the author because they simply failed to understand the real intent of the article. And, to think that these people and the author are both advocating the same thing!!!

  26. LOL… nicely done by the author! At first, I thought his arguments were shits but I realized later he’s presenting a satirical argument supporting RH Bill…….

  27. you are very wrong !!! you sir/mam . are you going to live in the mountains, jungles or even under the sea ?? you are the one who need to use your COMMON SENSE !! not us who are supporting RH BILL . and for your information were not MORONS !!!!! you are the one who is MORON . are you really understand what your post are all about ?? do you think in that kind of post you can convince other people that your saying something TRUTH ?? you should better learned or even try to understand what your going to say . especially your posting on the social networking site , theres the possibility that all the people around the world would read your NONSENSE article about RH BILL !!!!

  28. Of course there’s zero population on the sea floor. USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. AND WHY LIVE IN THE JUNGLE?? You mean Agricultural lands and rural areas. At least educate yourself before calling RH Supporters

    “Narrow-Minded Morons”

  29. I stopped reading after “narrow-minded morons”

You can’t call people morons for having a different belief from yours. Seriously if you heard it at a lecture in MegaMall… bah that was sheer ignorance. This guy clearly has no knowledge in Economics… You’re just another guy fed with information that isn’t even proven.

  30. WTF?! Think before you post. Sa iba naman na nagcomment and di binasa ng mabuti yung article you should check the article first!

First. Ang bababaw ng dahilan sa post na ito. It contains full of BS facts. If contraceptives are abortion, should you consider ejaculation an abortion too? c’mon.

Second. YES! Philippines is over-populated. Tell me if 92Million is not a huge number. Don’t you realize if you relocate people in other places such as mountains we can destroy our resources ourselves? I mean these places are reserved for our wild life creatures and of course our natural resources.

Third. You yourself are not CHRISTIAN enough to think that you can sell your own child or make them beg in the streets just to have money.

Fourth. You’re really believing in those hypocrites? Remember, if you were to recall Filipino history, in the Spanish Era the ones you were calling “RIGHT” were the one who really made Filipinos close to extinction.

    • Gosh.. You missed the author’s whole point. He was being sarcastic. This is written in sarcasm. The author is Pro-RH bill.

  31. Sadly isa n ako sa nagwala nung nabasa ko ung post ni Sr. Dustin Celestino, d ko inexpect na isa itong sarcasm… frankly npa sign up ako d2 pra lang mag comment against him and his work.

anyways after reading the comments and RE-read the post, na realize ko na msyadong mbilis lng pala akong nag react and d ko inintindi ung real message ng author…(mrahil d ko din marerealize ung pagging satire kung d dahil sa comments nyo)

Im a Pro- RH bill and a Catholic student. I wont base my stand on other people's opinion BUT i really learned alot through this Article… Thanks alot especially to the author.

  32. Reading the first part I thought, “Boy, this is one STUPID Pinoy”. I really got angry and almost trashed my computer. Even if I got a little confused cause the arguments are sarcastically Pro-RH Bill. Reading the middle part I say to myself, “Hmmm… Something’s Fishy”. Reading the last part, “It’s confirmed”. You got me… Nice one. Nice way to get people to read your article.

  33. 🙂 Wow! The sad truth is… our country is infested with bobo jologs. 🙂
I'm referring to the ones that will tcaer.

  34. OMGGGG! If this wasnt a joke, i would find this HIGHLY OFFENSIVE to women…. Seriously???? WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST WOMEN…GEEZZZ…..

  35. Though I’m an anti-RH bill myself, I agree with others that a few of your statements are wrong. Some comments are from an immature viewpoint.

“Abortions cannot be prevented. It’s just something that women naturally do. Like shopping, for example.”

I really dont agree with this. It’s obscene.

  36. Contraceptives would allow women to enjoy the benefits of physical intimacy while maintaining a successful and productive career, if she so chooses. That is so wrong. Only men should be able to enjoy that privilege.

    Such a wore.

  37. Youre so stupid to say that part

Furthermore, the role of women in society and the universe is to make babies. That’s why God made women. That’s their sole purpose in life. They’re not good for anything else. Ever wonder why there are no women in the clergy? Because they’re not good enough.

    Such an ignorant person.
    Youre the narrow-minded one.

  38. Part of the RH Bill is Abortion -RH Bill 5043, Sec 21, " Refuse to provide reproductive health care services to an abused minor, whose abused condition is certified by the proper official or personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) or to duly DSWD-certified abused pregnant minor on whose case no parental consent is necessary. " It is clear that part of the provision is if a minor is pregnant with or without consent of the parent she can undergo abortion. They need to be certified condition? If a minor got pregnant its automatically abused to her. Part of RH Bill are evil. Even some of us are pro SexEducation, but we must know all the content before we support it.

    • Since nobody here replied to your comment, I would like to clear the points you raised.

      1) the bill and section numbers you mentioned are contained in an old, revised bill. The latest consolidated bill, proof that the bill's authors do listen to suggestions, 424, under Section 28, sub-section a), paragraph 2, lists down the section you mentioned in a much revised, clearer fashion.

      2) First of all, the section pertains to the seeking of parental consent of ABUSED minors WHERE the parents or other family members are the abusers, and not pregnant minors in general! I would assume that the parents' consent would be sought if the child was raped by a non-family member. Clearly, the premise of your objection is wrong.

      3) as to the giving of emergency medical procedures to a raped minor, assuming she survives the despicable crime, would you rather she grows up carrying with her forever the "stigma" of the crime, the genes of the abusive, low-life in her child? Would you want that female to relive the horrible crime committed to her every single time she looks at and touches her baby? If you were the father of that raped minor daughter, wouldn't you wish to "erase" all physical signs of the crime so your daughter could live a normal life after (therapy, etc.)?

Thus, your opening line that "part of the RH bill is abortion" is clearly misleading to the readers! The only time the bill refers to abortion is when it categorically states that ABORTION IS ILLEGAL (Section 3 – Guiding Principles, sub-section 9). However, post-abortion care (read: the illegal abortion was conducted WITHOUT the state's consent) shall be given to these women, if they so need them, unless you want them to suffer health complications as a penance for their crimes!

If you wish to approve of something, you should read correctly the latest version of the bill…

  39. i strongly oppose RH BILL. not because i just read this article but simply because, I’M A REAL CHRISTIAN. are you? or just merely a so-called “CHRISTIAN”? ACT LIKE A REAL CHRISTIAN!

Philippines is considered THE ONLY CATHOLIC COUNTRY in Asia. We should show to the world that we deserve this! WE MUST ACT LIKE REAL CHRISTIANS!

when you use contraceptives, you are KILLING YOUR INNOCENT BABY. a sweet little angel which is God’s gift to you. why wont you accept this gift?

and if your Mother and Father had used contraceptives in the past, will you be here?

i’m only 15 years old.. ,and i’m very, so much afraid that if RH BILL will be passed, my values would soon be gone. .because sex would soon be “in trend”, it will be normal nah for the Filipino youth to engage in pre-marital sex cause condoms and other contraceptives will be available.. .NO FILIPINO YOUTH will be virgin when we reach the age of 18. ,is this what you want? for me and the whole Filipino Youth? is this what a REAL CHRISTIAN would want?

~ think about it. God bless!

    • Although you are young and still have much to learn in life, I admire your speaking out based on your beliefs, even if a lot of more learned people will disagree with them (when you use contraceptives, YOU ARE KILLING YOUR INNOCENT BABY – maybe you should check again the real definition of contraceptives). At any rate, I will not try to convince you otherwise because it seems you already have a mindset about the bill. I only hope you will not regret your decision in the future. God bless you too.^_^

      • …sure we think more mature than him…,actually he thinks like a grade one pupil..,i mean the most stupid pupil….you got me on your comments…nice..at least the world’s not really occupied by only morons…

    • However, in the off-chance that you are open to a discussion as to why we favor the bill's passage, I'm sure somebody here will tske you on…

    • Let me quote Wesley from his article: Toughest Place to Be

"While anti-RH groups are rallying to save the lives of imaginary babies threatened by condom usage, meanwhile real babies are dying everyday brought about by poor living conditions and parents who are hardly equipped nor prepared for the challenges of parenthood.

Moreover, the argument that you would lose your values If the RH Bill gets passed is quite weak because the Bill does not require any individual to have sex. You (or any individual for that matter) can still think and act based on your moral values. Therefore, It will always be your choice whether or not you will engage in such "activities" that you claim would be "in trend". That is of course, banking on the premise that pre-marital sex is not yet "in trend" in this country. (which I strongly oppose given the number of teenage, out-of-wedlock pregnancies)

Though sweetie, I gotta give it to you. I admire your audacity to speak your mind at such age.

      *cheers.

  40. To my fellow catholics out here, before you decide whether to favor the RH bill or not, I urge you to use your critical thinking on the following points and not merely rely on what others say:

    1) is our country overpopulated or not? Is a big portion of this population living way below the poverty line or not? Do families classified as such have large numbers of uneducated, malnourished children or not?

    2) are contraceptives carcinogenic or harmful to health or not? Are contraceptives, legal in Italy (where the vatican is) and Poland (where our pope hails from), abortifacients? How many people have actually died due to cancer from its use?

    3) if life is acknowledged to begin at conception (meeting of the sperm and egg), do contraceptives prevent such conception or abort a concieved/fertilized egg?

    4) do women in this marginalized sector need to be properly educated on maternal health care or not? Can these women afford to buy their own contraceptives if they choose not to have any more children? Do these poor women currently have acces to these type of services?

    5) if sex is only for procreation, then why is there a natural way (NFP) to avoid getting pregnant? If the natural contraceptive (NFP) prevents conception, then how are the artificial contraceptives (condom, pills, IUD, ligation, vasectomy, etc.) any different?

    6) does the RH bill actually impose anything on the target beneficiaries (what method to use, how many children a family should have, etc.)? Does it actually remove anybody's freedoms?

    7) if you don't object to your taxes being used to subsidize rice prices, exchange rate, medicines and medical services given free to indigent patients, etc., would you strongly object to contraceptives being given for free to poor women who want them?

    8) (to the parents) have you adequately and correctly educated your children on sex education and its negative consequences? If you have, aren't you given the option not to have your kids attend such SexEd classes?

How you honestly answer the above (of course, after reading the bill itself), regardless of how devout catholics you are, should dictate whether you should support the bill or reject it, not simply because you are told to support it or not! Whatever you eventually decide, no one will hold that against you…

  41. UNBELIEVABLE: two whole pages of comments from people who didn't understand the satire they just read (not sarcasm, as others mentioned, cause irony and ridicule can also be used in a satire, just like sarcasm!). Worse, others didn't even finish the article before lambasting the author. Just f…ing unbelievable!!!

  42. For me, the best argument so far offered by the anti group is that "contraceptives are carcinogenic"! Wow! Baka kasi alam ng mga pari kinakain ung condom!hehe but, seriously, how many women in their twilight years now suffer from cancer for using birth-control pills in their youth? If this was a basis for opposing the use of contraceptives, then we might as well ban also inihaw na liempo (ouch…), inihaw na bangus (yum yum), etc. what nonsense!
