    Positivism??

GOD remains invisible to the reprobates, disbelievers and confessing atheists. The things of God are spiritually discerned. No amount of Human reason can ever fathom God’s plans. There’s none that seeks God. Man has no access, no point of entry, to the eternal, transcendent realm.
Modern Thinkers have wrestled on this: How do we make sense out of all the particulars that we encounter in our lives?
We saw the devastation of ONDOY and PEPING in our country, what could be the reason why it occurred?

    • 1412 says:

They don’t just poof or anything, alvin, it happens when cold and warm fronts converge, thus creating a low, that’s when typhoons happen. God is not controlling physics, it’s the same as, a falling airplane with no engine can’t be saved by god.

IF and only if, snow reaches the philippines (which is not natural, obviously, I hope you know this and that you are not just some 10-year-old), will I believe that god played a role in our “natural” phenomena.

      • Harmless says:

Careful what you say bro. When the next “Snowball Earth” event happens (and it will), does that mean you’ll believe in god? :)

Kidding aside, ballares is showing exactly why so many people believe in “miracles”. It’s mostly out of ignorance.

    • 1412 says:

ps, No amount of human reason can ever fathom God’s “plans”; then why are you, as a normal human, speak about gods “plans” as if you have his cellphone number.

btw, I’d like to ask you something.

The bible told us that god is real; and god was the one who wrote the bible. That’s an argument in circles, which is a fallacy; is god a fallacy, then?

      • igme says:

if a question about god, or of his being, or of the simple inconsistencies of his badly written book, cannot be answered; there is mysterious ways, there is no one can fathom what god has in mind.

but if points out another person is a sinner, different, immoral, uneducated, or whatever negatives; if it is used to HATE, believers are 100% sure with imagined facts that god hates those people with a vengeance.

      • alvin john ballares says:

I don’t have his cellphone number bro. the Bible is just clear that God controls everything. He is the Absolutely Sovereign God. It is a BIBLICAL claim.
I said NO AMOUNT of human reason can ever fathom God’s plan, yes, I must remain consistent with that claim. I’m not telling you that i know everything about GOD. I’m telling you a little of what I know about GOD.everything that occurs is a part of GOD’s plan.

  2. @ Alvin : Ondoy and Peping are natural calamities. The reason why it occurred because it is part of nature, that’s why its called natural calamities/disasters in the first place. Before mankind spawned in this planet, these typhoons, floods, and tsunamis already existed.

  3. jong says:

Not to mention the asteroid/meteorite or whatever it is that wiped out the dinosaurs.

  4. alvin john ballares says:

I agree, they are called “natural calamities”. Nobody is controlling them? So they just “poof” into existence?
Well you may say that they developed from LPA’s into Typhoons.
I say that they are a part of God’s plan.God caused them to exist.

Asteroid did wipe out the dinasaurian race (I think I just coined a word), well i fact they continue to exist until the middle ages. I’m not quite sure about this, but I think my friend NESSIE is one the survivors. Here’s his address:

    I made a lot of typos…sorry.

^ Thanks for the good laugh. You effectively simplified the universe by making this “god” character the reason for everything that has ever happened. How convenient. I would have hoped that you could have realized quicker that your reasoning should be at least at an acceptable level before posting here.

  7. ^ he simplified it because his simple mind can’t handle reasoning and science.

“the God excuse, the last refuge of a man with no answers and no arguments” – George Carlin

  8. alvin john ballares says:

Yes my mind is simple.Very simple Let me give you one simple test to verify the simplicity of my simple mind…try this question:
1.I am thinking right now, what is it that I’m thinking?
If you can’t answer this question accurately, then your mind is as simple as mine.Goodluck.

Isa pa, can you really handle reason and science? I doubt. If you can, then explain to me “GOD”, “man”, “Universe”.

  9. Kiel says:

There is nothing to explain with God because there is no logic and science behind it. Man is a rational being, Are you one of them?

  10. alvin john ballares says:

hahaha you just proven yourself to be irrational. There’s nothing to explain with God because you have nothing in your mind to explain God.Man is a rational being, yes that’s true, but man’s rationality has limits.
    I’m a rational being.

  11. 1412 says:

    ::off topic::

can we kick alvin? I thought this is for free thinkers only. xD

    • justinaquino says:

We respect Free speech and have no censorship over here. Evidence of someone’s irrationality or mistakes are best left for everyone to observe and interpret. It motivates us to see our own flaws, check ourselves, as well as plainly see the where a particular flaw or divergence originated.

Even the trolls are useful in emphasizing that there are those out there that are irrational and want to attack the confidence of your rational assertions.

I might sound harsh, but Alvin is welcome to exercise his rights, but free-speech is not without its consequences.

If people do not agree and find his arguments irrational, criticize them and point out the flaws let the record show. How else can we learn our own flaws if we don’t have a feedback mechanism or a way to see where our strategy failed.

If it results to name calling, then we can trace the origin of the thought and what caused the reaction.

A Stubborn and Deluded stance takes rational arguments off the table, and provoking is a way to double check if the person is actually READING and trying to comprehend the argument. Once you have his attention, repeat introduction of rational argument… but alas the same stubborn result.

Censorship if any should be left to preventing spam and other disruptive activities.

(beginning with an erroneous premise still counts as irrational despite how logical one will follow conclusions)

      • alvin john ballares says:

        exactly justin.
I think we have an agreement here….
also as a theist, I really want to know what you atheists really think.what we do here is “to learn”, to check and double-check, and putting our thoughts on the table.
well, I must submit that most of you are really bright, and some of you are really commendable when it comes to intellect, but only to some.

  12. Zach Albia says:

    This… is beautiful.

And Alvin is a dick, lol. The last statement doesn’t disprove anything about god(s) but it sure as hell doesn’t need any proof.

    • alvin john ballares says:

dick huh?? What dick? how big?? Hey there you can’t kick me out, ive been here for quite a while.why should I disprove anything about G/god? can you disprove them?
LOVE? ok state your definition of LOVE…at least an intellectual definition of love, not the usual “love is blind” thingy.
