New member here.

So I just joined the forums, hoping for a good read or two online. So I go into the 'general discussions' page only to find spam topics populating the first two pages. Oddly enough, my nose started to bleed. Seriously.

Unless, of course, 'Wheelchair minivans' and 'spa appoinment software' have anything to do with the principles of science or freethought, I do think these ads should have been deleted, and the accounts banned immediately (as stated in the forum rules).

Looking around then led me to another observation, that being the lack of any significant post after September 25, 2011, not only in the general discussions page, but also in every other page on the forum (save for 'Member introductions' with a few new members like me posting after September 25 still awaiting a welcome reply from an older member). I wouldn't know if this lack of any regular activity is normal or an indication that something's up.

Just really curious, that's all.

Ever since the change of layout this message board has been more dead than usual (based on my observation at least.)

I still check this board every few months or so to see if there's any activity going. Still haven't seen any significant movement in here though.

I personally hate the new layout. The text is hard to read, and there's far too much stuff going on… like the unnecessary tags right underneath thread titles.

Admin also needs to disable guests from posting (only registered users can post) to prevent spam. They've already got the math human test in place, so after disabling guest posts it's all smooth sailing (I think).
