Help me on this, you imply that secular violations are happening all over the government and not only limited to executive body, then you complain that what I wrote was an overkill?
There are many ways to interpret the special religious holidays provided by the state. One of them is in the form of ‘bribery’ to pacify secular activists just so for the short time benefit of the working class people, like you and me. Another, which I think is more of the case, as the state leader’s ‘investment’ on political support of the whole congregation to advance an agenda, which in the long run comprise much more of a problem than benefit to the whole society. Whatever the case may be, state-sponsored religious holidays are indications that we are still living in a semi-theocratic leadership and secularists need not to be complacent by mere illusion of privilege.
I very much commend the outline of your secular universe, and I hope that more and more will realize the urgent need for a secular vanguard in this country.

About the disclaimer, I thought by mentioning that it might actually add credibility on what I wrote, the same way with the issue of RH Bill favored by a Catholic.
If one could prove the existence of ghosts, then does it logically follow that God also exists?, as both concept rely on some non-physical/organic state in which mental process is possible?
Hi Frank. I really love this post. You have this simple and cute way of creating an attitude towards the adventure of science with an awe inspiring character. Keep it up. We’ll be reading more from you.
Premise 1. Evil exist
2. If God created everything
Conclusion: God is responsible for the evil in the world.
The young student’s (not Einstein’s) argument is this:
Premise 1. Cold does not exist
2. Darkness does not exist.
3. Evil is like Cold and Darkness.
Conclusion: Evil does not exist.
Premise 1 and 2 are scientifically wrong.
Premise 3 is wrong by fallacious comparison
therefore
Conclusion is wrong
Take note that denial of evil in this world is the young student’s solution to the classic problem of evil against the existence of God.
Now, does evil exist? Evil is abundantly obvious, to say evil is just an illusion would be counter-intuitive. Whereas evil, define here as the collective suffering of any being- human and other animals- brought by natural forces. (like typhoons, earthquakes, hunger, in-born diseases, genetic defects, poisonous plants, and others)
Which bring us back to the logical incompatibility of evil in this world and the so-called existence of an all-powerful and all-loving God.
I did not dismiss evil just because it’s not physical. I did that in the merit of it being a fallacy of reasoning on the argument.
Manny. I appreciate the time you spent on answering some of the issues for RH Bill, however, I think you need more than that to prove that IUDs and Oral Contraceptives directly induce abortions. I have cited the World Health Organizations as my chief reference to support that it is not. For the other objection you raised in pertains on the freedom of conscience of the health workers against RH Bill, I think it’s their responsibility and part of their job descriptions to provide the best available resources that would benefit their patients on reproductive health matters. Hospitals and clinics are not the place for them to invoke their personal religious beliefs.
Right wes, let’s break the stereotype that rationalists are too cerebral and therefore boring. Let us remind the people that like them, we are naughty bastards and bitches too. )
In addition, I read from the Skeptical Inquirer magazine (thanks to D.J. Grothe of CFI) that the popular notion of ‘love at first sight’ has nothing to do with neither physics nor chemistry, but most likely on the psychological power of suggestion of faces. Bearing with the series of studies and documentation done by Lilian Alvarez and Klaus Jaffe (2004), and others that preceded them, they observe that many couples who are in love are actually look alike- more so than chance would allow.
@ Red – Oh yes we can add that, Einstein has really lots of insightful thoughts on the issue of God and religion, and he’s no pussyfooter, which is another reason to admire him more. Thanks for the further reference.
@ f241vc15 – That’s a wonderful explanation you got there. It reminds me also that even black hole radiates! (Hawking) Astronomy is really a fascinating science.
In addition, a 2005 study by Gregory Paul looking at 18 democracies found that the more atheist societies tended to have relatively low murder and suicide rates and relatively low incidence of abortion and teen pregnancy.
I value your interesting opinion. Thanks for visiting our site and commenting.
For a good natured discussion I invite you to join one of our FF Sunday meet-ups at Shang from 1-4 pm. or you can participate at the FF online forum at http://www.filipinofreethinkers.org/forum/
I am inclined to think that the concept of separation of Church and State in this country applies only to stop the government from intervening on religious affairs, and on the issue of religious tax immunity. Everything else is facade.
Teddydeedodu,
Hi!!! IF Ed Panlilio is not a priest he will certainly be another Ed-die Gil (remember him?) – a nuisance candidate. One way or another he is taking advantage of the trust of the people. A good president is someone whose life stance is firmly grounded on reason and not delusion for an official religion sanctioned by an skyhook god-of-the-book.
Danny,
Exactly. If he win, Quaipo will replace Malacanang.
