Instead of coming to Manila to attend the film fest, you also have the option of organizing your own Film Fest in Cebu. The Davao Chapter also has plans to do this. One of the advantages of doing this is you could reach other freethinkers in Cebu and perhaps start another chapter. We’ll be glad to send over the films for the film fest, and we won’t be short of sponsors for the event. And as for viewers, I’m sure philosophy professors could easily require their class to submit a reaction paper on one of the films. =)
if there’s anything we can do to help in setting things up, feel free to let us know.
Tin, make me a postcard-sized version! I’m not allowed to change my office wallpaper and I don’t see anyone else with A4 sized posters on their cubicles, but postcard-sized stuff seems to be okay.
(Just leave out the list of movies. people might perceive the titles to violate the anti discrimination clause. plus they’re hard to fit in a postcard)
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that people are more polite that you might think. A number of us neither drink alcohol (or coffee) nor smoke, and you can be certain none of us seriously threaten physical harm (right, Karl? ^^)
I think your wife might be among those who think atheists and freethinkers are baby-eating monsters, and it would be nice if you could bring her along if you ever decide to brave a meet-up. The only thing in any danger of being hurt in our meet-ups is pride, actually, but we’re usually quite polite and civil in real life.
And I sure hope “the guy who was very hostile” to you wasn’t me. ^^ I’m actually quite a nice guy if I might say so myself. :p
Wow, that’s a pretty important article. With all the crap we bitch about here, it’s easy to lose sight of how much better we actually have it. And it’s also a grim reminder of how much worse things can get without timely action. Damn that’s scary.
Good luck to Karl and our Indonesian freethinking friends.
Nope, it doesn’t stop on its own. It’s up to you to count your votes. If you’re not sure about your vote count, forget about it, just don’t go vote-crazy, or else all your votes will cancel each other out. =)
As Wes mentioned, try Justin’s account on your browser. Also, try your account on Justin’s browser. From this we can determine if the problem’s with your account, or if you’re just cursed.
As a note, only logged in users should see the Vote link.
Oh? Someone actually told you? What a godless bastard. >.
Well anyway, whoever it is clearly does not speak for the group, so I would consider it mere individual assholery.
One of these days let’s have a meetup at Luneta. I’m sure a lot of our regular members wouldn’t mind, and I’ve always wanted to see what the freethinking scene of the place looked like.
It SHOULD appear on all browsers. I don’t think there’s anything that’s browser-specific. If clearing your cache doesn’t work and it still doesn’t work no matter what you do, leave a message and maybe the more techie guys here can give you a hand.
