New Film Fest Poster

In case it’s not obvious, the first poster was one I made effortlessly in five minutes (while Mikong was effortlessly winning the first national Go championship). But it served its purpose in getting things started and announcing the event officially for the first time.

Anyway, here’s a proper poster Tin made. Now when you print the poster, post it all over your school and village, and hand it out to your religious family and friends, you won’t be ashamed. Ok, maybe a little.

Here’s a high-resolution version ready for printing.

And in case you haven’t already, please RSVP for the event or for the preparation meetup.

  1. Hi, just wanted to point out that your film festival identity is quite close to the Tribeca Film festival identity, a link to which I shall cut and paste here for your reference:

If you'd been anyone else you might have gotten upset that I'm calling you unoriginal, a hypocritical idea thief, and (as the Tribeca festival's American) un-Filipino, but thankfully, you're a free thinker.

  2. Instead of coming to Manila to attend the film fest, you also have the option of organizing your own Film Fest in Cebu. The Davao Chapter also has plans to do this. One of the advantages of doing this is you could reach other freethinkers in Cebu and perhaps start another chapter. We'll be glad to send over the films for the film fest, and we won't be short of sponsors for the event. And as for viewers, I'm sure philosophy professors could easily require their class to submit a reaction paper on one of the films. =)

if there's anything we can do to help in setting things up, feel free to let us know.

      — just like when i was in HS, my religion teacher requires us to get the signature of the parish priest after mass on sunday as a proof that we attended mass…

—- PS: sunduin mo na lang si Sathepine… ^_^

      • hala! good idea! why did i not think about it? frank, if madayun ko, kuhaa ko beh? i'll treat you to lunch or something if you do!

      • @luscious – yup, we plan to get professors to force – err, invite – their students to come. =)

p.s. yihee, ang corny mo, just in time for valentines! bwehehe!!

  3. I want to go! But I'm still totally undecided due to the following reasons:
    1) On March 1, I'd be going on a multi-day trip somewhere and I may need the weekend to prepare for that.
    2) I'd be going alone and I don't know my way around Manila.

I just want to know the following before deciding:
    1) How far is UP Diliman from the airport (terminal 3)?
    2) How do I get there? (Like, what jeepneys to ride, etc?)
    3) How much would a taxi fare be, and how long would it take?

I have relatives I may be able to rely on (place to stay, drive around the city…) but I kind of don't want them to know that I'd be in Manila for a freethinkers film fest.

    • Let me try to partially answer some of those 🙂

      1) and 2) Right now I can't say how far (meaning distance in miles/kilometers), but I'm sure you can use Google Maps or something equivalent for that. But to get from NAIA terminal 3 you'd just have to ride a jeep or taxi to the nearest MRT station ( I forgot which one it is, but the jeepney/taxi drivers shouldn't have a problem with that). There are taxis waiting at NAIA, and there are jeepneys coming and going outside the perimeter of NAIA terminal 3. You shouldn't have a problem locating them I suppose. The trip to the nearest MRT station should just take about 10 mins more or less. When you get to the MRT station, ride all the way up to either Quezon Avenue station or SM North station. This MRT ride should take just about 25-30 mins I think. From those two stations you should be able to ride a jeepney (or taxi) quickly to UP Diliman.
      3) Taxi from NAIA to UP Diliman? Not sure, maybe around 300 pesos (wild guess)

      • I totally forgot about the MRT! I feel so much better now. Last year when I went there, we rode from airport to Cavite on my friend's relative's car and I got sick and threw up! I was totally embarrassed! But they were very considerate with me.

  4. Tin, make me a postcard-sized version! I'm not allowed to change my office wallpaper and I don't see anyone else with A4 sized posters on their cubicles, but postcard-sized stuff seems to be okay.

(Just leave out the list of movies. people might perceive the titles to violate the anti discrimination clause. plus they're hard to fit in a postcard)

    ^___^

  5. I've already watched the two Root of All Evil videos. Quite good.

Just a tidbit. Dawkins didn't come up with the title. He himself didn't like "Root of All Evil" as the title.
