FF Special Guests

Do you remember Cafe Sci’s event with Dr. Steve Jones? A bunch of us supported them when they interviewed him via Skype video in Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street. The audience loved it, and Steve seemed to be enjoying as well. This planted the seed of an idea into our heads.

Several months later the seed has borne fruit. For our next event, we’ll have a video conference with CFI program director and host of the Points of Inquiry podcast, DJ Grothe.

DJ was so friendly and humble and helpful that inviting him wasn’t as hard as I’d thought it would be. So I tried pushing my luck. And it worked.

Somehow I was blessed to have invited another special guest, FFRF co-president Dan Barker. Like DJ, he too was excited about the idea, and both of them agreed to working out the details in the weeks to come.

Nothing is certain yet, and it’ll be tough to work with their busy schedules and the different time zones. But I told you early because we need to start planning — the best questions to ask, the format and schedule of the interviews, etc.

But honestly, I was just really excited. Aren’t you? And if there was someone you’d like to invite as a special guest, who would it be? Please leave a comment. Who knows? Your prayers might be answered 😉

  1. @wes: Brangelina would be awesome. I'll find out how to make that work. Cross your fingers and toes.

@Cat: Funny you should mention Julia. That's already in the works 🙂

  2. OMG. That is SO exciting. Good work Red! Also a fan of their podcasts, so I am feeling particularly gushy at the news. Emailed Dan my rendition of their Sleep In On Sundays bumper sticker a few months back. He humored me with an MP3 of his Sunday Morning Blues.

I'm fixated on the arts for other guests. To name some: Salman Rushdie, Julia Sweeney, and Ricky Gervais.

  3. any chance we can also get Paul Kurtz for a joint interview 😀

for special guests? off the top of my list: Brangelina, hehehe. Red if you manage to pull that one off, I will nominate you for secular sainthood 😀
